Pink Ribbon Ride Celebrates 19th Anniversary on 20 October 2019

Once again the team and supporters of the Sydney Pink Ribbon Motorcycle will be raising funds to assist the work of the Westmead Breast Cancer Institute (BCI).

Funds raised from 2019 will go towards the Tomosynthesis enabled Biopsy upgrade.

Tomosynthesis is an imaging or X-ray technique that can be used to screen for early signs of breast cancer in women with no symptoms. This type of imaging can also be used as a diagnostic tool for women that are having breast cancer symptoms.

Tomosynthesis is an advanced type of mammography that we are presently using at BCI in many women.

The use of this groundbreaking Hologic 3D imaging technology to perform breast biopsies offers these key advantages:

  • Allows you to easily target breast lesions
  • Streamlines procedure steps and speeds targeting, resulting in improved workflow and shorter patient procedure time
  • Highly accurate technology which saves from women unnecessary surgery when lesions are proven to be benign and provides accurate targeting and biopsy of breast cancers so treatment can be planned with confidence

Thank you for your support!
