Leura International Breast Cancer Conference 2016

5:00PM - 11:00AM Tuesday 25th Oct, 2016 - Saturday 29th Oct, 2016

The Leura8 International Breast Cancer Conference, hosted by the Westmead Breast Cancer Institute and the BreastSurgANZ was held during Breast Cancer Awareness Month from 25th to Saturday 29th October 2016 at the Fairmont resort in Leura.

The Leura International Breast Cancer Conference was originally developed to share the latest up-to-date information on breast cancer screening, diagnosis and treatment with Health professionals across Australasia. Since inception in 1988, the conference has been successfully held every 4 years. The inaugural conference of 1988 was held in Leura, and we return to this picturesque venue after 28 years.

Leura 8 brought together Australian health professionals and international registrants, for an innovative, multidisciplinary breast cancer conference. The conference covered all aspects of breast disease for screening to diagnosis, treatment and beyond. The impressive and comprehensive program, highlighted the overarching theme of ‘Bringing Precision Medicine into the Clinic, from Screening to Diagnosis and Treatment.

Plenary sessions included advanced approaches in surgical management of breast cancer, contributions and limitations of multi-gene prognostic assays, tailored adjuvant therapeutic strategies, and latest insights in breast radiation therapy. Discipline specific workshops and ‘101’ Sessions provided delegates an opportunity to gain a better understanding of disciplines outside their own, whilst also provided a comprehensive and informative session, which had broad interdisciplinary appeal.
