The Cancer Council Australia  provides information, resources and support via a national telephone helpline - the Cancer Information Service.
The service is managed by each state and territory cancer council. Phone 131120 and your toll-free call (the cost of a local call from anywhere in Australia) is directed to the Cancer Information Service in your state or territory.

Breast Cancer Action Group NSW Inc (BCAG NSW), formed in October 1997, is an organisation for people who are, in any way, affected by breast cancer.

YWCA Encore Exercise Program

An exercise program designed specifically to target areas affected by breast cancer surgery with the aim of improving mobility, flexibility and strength.  YWCA Encore also aims to boost confidence and self esteem through information sharing sessions.  . Funded by NSW Health, Encore is free and available in rural and metropolitan locations across New South Wales.

Look Good, Feel Better Workshops

Workshops for women, men and teenagers who have experienced any type of cancer. A variety of techniques are shown to help restore appearance and self image during chemotherapy, radiotherapy and other treatments for breast and other cancers. Workshops are held in venues across Australia, including Westmead Hospital.

Dates for 2009 at Westmead :

27th January, 3rd March, 28th April, 16th June, 4th August, 22nd September, and 17th November.

Times: 10.00am to 12.00pm.

Petrea King's Quest for Life Centre

Petrea King's Quest for Life Centre is in Bundanoon, NSW. If English is Not Your First Language

Help is available for women with breast cancer who need information in languages other than English.
Resources include:

  • Health care interpreters who can help at appointments
  • Information Brochures from the National Breast Cancer Centre (NBCC) available at the NSW BCI clinic or at http://www.nbcc.org.au/. For further information contact the Cancer Council on 131120.
