Information for Patients

The Breast Assessment Clinic provides a full range of diagnostic breast imaging and interventional procedures. This includes:

• digital mammography
• breast ultrasound
• fine needle biopsy
• core biopsy
• vacuum assisted core biopsy (Mammotome™)
  • Stereotactic biopsy
  • Ultrasound guided biopsy
• hookwire localisation procedures

Referral for these procedures may come from doctors in the Westmead Breast Cancer Institute or from general practitioners or specialists outside the Institute.
