Moderate Alcohol Consumption Increases Cancer Risk |

In the same week that the World Cancer Research Fund’s Policy Report1 which shows that between 11 and 22% of breast cancer cases in the US and UK are attributable to alcohol consumption was released, another study was published in the February issue of the Journal of the National Cancer Institute which showed that nearly 13 percent of combined cases of breast, liver, rectum, upper gastrointestinal tract cancers may be attributable to alcohol. |

Olive Oil Effective against HER-2 Breast Cancer |

Olive oil has long been known to be a good source of monounsaturated fats and confers benefits in terms of heart heath. However a recent study has investigated the effect of an olive oil rich diet on breast cancer risk.1 The study, published in the December 8 issue of BMC Cancer by Menendez shows that olive oil is effective against HER-2 positive breast cancer.

Sleep, Physical Activity and the Prevention of Breast Cancer |

Although there is a growing amount of evidence that regular physical activity has benefits for cancer prevention, a new study recently presented at the American Association for Cancer Research's International Conference on Frontiers in Cancer Prevention Research, by James McClain, has suggested that this benefit can be maximised by sleeping at least seven hours per night.
