What are the benefits of physical activity for the prevention of cancer?

Physical activity has many benefits, such as preventing diseases such as obesity, cancer, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and arthritis. By making physical activity a regular part of you lifestyle you will also improve your energy levels, body image and overall wellbeing. Any type of activity is beneficial especially a combination of resistance and aerobic exercise.

Physical activity has also been shown to be protective against breast cancer. The reasons for this protective effect include the beneficial effect of physical activity on preventing body fatness, which is in turn related to the development of cancer. Exercise also has direct benefits on the metabolism of hormones, and in strengthening the immune system. Conversely, sedentary behaviors, such as television viewing, have been implicated as a cause of weight gain, overweight, and obesity, which is an independent risk factor for cancer.
