There are lots of good reasons to maintain a healthy weight. You'll feel stronger, have more energy, and improve your self-esteem. Maintaining a healthy weight may help reduce your risk of breast cancer coming back. Studies on maintaining a healthy weight and lowering the risk of a first-time breast cancer suggest that overweight women have a higher risk of developing breast cancer after menopause than women at a healthy weight. Research has also shown that women who gain weight after their breast cancer diagnosis have a higher risk of recurrence.
