Tamoxifen

An antiestrogenic drug which blocks the growth of breast cancer tumours whose cells depend on oestrogen to divide.
Telangiectasia

Dilated small blood vessels in the skin a consequence of high dose radiotherapy.
Tissue Expander

Breast shape is created by placing an inflatable envelope under the skin and muscle. Over several weeks it is expanded gradually by injections of salt water.
Total (or simple) mastectomy

A surgical procedure involving complete removal of the breast but not the axillary lymph nodes or chest muscles.
Tubular carcinoma

A well differentiated breast cancer with characteristic appearance under the microscope. It has a particularly good outlook.
Tumour

Abnormal growth of tissue (a lesion).
