BreastScreen NSW, Sydney West is part of the National Program BreastScreen Australia which operates for the Early Detection of Breast Cancer. It is funded through the BreastScreen NSW Coordination Unit which is managed by the Cancer Institute NSW. The program services are delivered from nine Screening and Assessment Services, located and managed within NSW Local Health Districts.
The BreastScreen NSW Sydney West service operates as a program of Westmead Breast Cancer Institute (BCI) a division of the Western Sydney Local Health District. BreastScreen NSW Sydney West provides a free screening service to target age women in local government areas including Auburn, Blacktown, Blue Mountains, Castle Hill, Hawkesbury, Holroyd, Parramatta, Penrith and Lithgow.
